DISASTER REILEF HOUSING
Category: Single family house
Name of University/College: Tulane University
Specialization: Architecture
Year of graduation: 2020
Living in the south and along the coast, we are most prone to hurricanes and its dangerous storm surges. Disaster relief housing becomes necessary for southern families when their permanent housing is no longer an option. Many families following a hurricane can not afford hotels, gas, and food cost for months at a time. In response to that financial hardship, the state provides trailers for residents to live in while the city is under construction. These trailers aren’t ideal and can impact the family negatively over time. Being affected by a disaster can cause both psychological and emotional damage. The goal of this project is to provide stable housing for the south that is both efficiently assembled and adequately designed. The project will feature the unique usage of CLT panels, efficient transportation methods, modular housing, diverse material, and affordability.
